Products
The
StalkMarket family of products consists of three distinct
lines:
The
company's flagship line of tableware and packaging is
made from a sugarcane fiber-based paperboard called bagasse.
The material is made from sugarcane waste recovered from
sugar refineries. The crushed stalks, which are normally
disposed of by burning, are taken to a processing plant
where they are converted into paperboard in much the same
way as wood pulp is used for cardboard. Since the raw
materials used to produce StalkMarket's tableware and
packaging are the by-product of food-grade sugar processing,
the bagasse paperboard is clean and free of any contaminants
throughout the entire manufacturing process. This makes
it safe for food contact, pharmaceutical packaging and
personal care items. Stalk market produces a wide array
of plates, bowls, serving trays, pizza containers, sandwich
boxes and cups all made of this material. StalkMarket
products are microwave safe, can handle boiling liquid,
can be frozen and are oil-resistant.

Jaya
cutlery and clear cups are made out of biopolymers that
are similar to hydrocarbon-based thermoplastics with one
very important difference – they are made from plants
instead of oil. While they may look and feel a lot like
plastic they are really made completely of renewable materials
and, like all StalkMarket products, they break down in
a composter or landfill.

This line of paper cups is designed for use with both
hot and cold liquids. Traditionally, disposable paper
cups are lined with a thin oil-based plastic coating that
prevents them from leaking. Unfortunately, this plastic
coating also prevents them from breaking down. Planet
Plus cups are coated with Ingeo biopolymers from
NatureWorks,
LLC, allowing them to quickly break down in composter
facilities.
